Description:
At university, students learn SQL and prove in exams what they learned. When correcting the exams we sometimes find solutions where we are not quite sure if they work or not. Some of these solutions are shown in the presentation. We first vote if an answer is correct or not, and then test it on a database.

Some questions in the exam are multiple choice, as they are much faster and easier to correct. With these questions, we will make a quiz, where you cannot only can test your SQL-Knowledge but also win a prize.

During our lectures, we learned that students not only love quizzes but also games. So we developed a special game to learn and practice SQL. The game will be explained, and a link will be provided for those who want to play with SQL.

So have fun with SQL.

Speaker: Dr. Andrea Kennel, Consultant and Lecturer at FHNW Brugg/Windisch

Dr Andrea Kennel studied computer science at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH) and added a doctorate in computer science. In her more than 30 years of professional experience, she has always combined practice and teaching. In 2005, she founded her own consulting company (www.infokennel.ch). As a consultant, she has worked and continues to work primarily on Oracle DWH projects as a lead data architect and also as a developer or project manager. 

Since 2014, Andrea has also been a lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences Brugg/Windisch (www.fhnw.ch), where she is responsible for database lectures in computer science and data science. She also supervises bachelor's theses and project teams that implement customer projects. 

Andrea Kennel regularly gives lectures at conferences and writes articles.
